Halden Theatres Banner

Halden Theatre is still alive and kicking, and continues to offer up theatre in Nottingham that is accessible to all. Halden Theatre performs shows all year round in some of Nottingham’s most quirky venues, such as Lee Rosy's Tea Shop, Fade the Hard to Find Cafe and Jam Cafe. By performing in venues such as these, Halden Theatre aims to 'Bring Theatre Back To the People' of Nottingham.

We are now branching out from staging only classical texts into new writing. With the massive Triliteral Stageplay Festival (to be held in June), we are aiming to showcase some of the best writing the UK has to offer in Halden Theatre’s unique style.

Halden Theatre's aims in Nottingham are “somewhat of a paradox. On the one hand, it sets out to 'bring theatre to the people' by placing it back in everyday social environments such as bars, cafes and even outdoor public spaces. Yet it also promises not to 'dumb down' or to 'succumb to the low standards of many forms of modern entertainment mediums'. Lofty ambitions indeed."-Richard Pilgrim, Left Lion.
